Barbara Mielcarek-Krzyżanowska
Music Theorist, Musicologist, Doctor of Humanities, Doctor of Fine Arts Since 2001, Barbara Mielcarek-Krzyżanowska has been affiliated with the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where she engages in various research projects and leads the Musical Culture and Folklore Studio within the Department of Composition, Theory of Music, and Sound Engineering.
Her research interests primarily focus on the musical culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a particular emphasis on the works of Zygmunt Mycielski and the contributions of Maria Modrakowska. She is actively involved in national and international scientific conferences, both as a participant and organizer.
Among her publications is the book Musical Folklore in the Works of Polish Composers of the 20th Century (Bydgoszcz, 2021). From 2001 to 2015, she collaborated with the Youth Palace in Bydgoszcz as a lecturer and juror for numerous events. Since 2011, she has served as a juror for Music Knowledge Competitions organized by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra.
